Sound Baths: Indulge in an auditory experiment like no other

Immerse yourself in meditative vibrations of singing bowls, gongs or human voice. Find out more about sound baths and why you should try them now.

A sound bath is exactly what its name suggests: soaking in therapeutic sounds that allow your mind waves to slow down and your body to enter a deeper state of relaxation.

Enticing, isn’t it?

What is a sound bath?

While they might sound like a modern concept, ‘sound baths’ date back thousands of years. It is a practice used to heal the body with spiritual music or even a simple ‘om’ after your yoga session.

A sound bath is a meditative experience in which participants are immersed in sound waves. These waves are generated by a variety of instruments, including singing bowls, gongs, percussion, chimes, tuning forks and even the human voice.

How does it work?

This deeply immersive and therapeutic experience starts with people sitting or lying down comfortably on a yoga mat, with eye masks and blankets. Following a few minutes of guided focus on the breath, the rest of the session is filled with various sounds and frequencies introduced successively.

You will be asked to close your eyes and breathe slowly. The guided practice can last between 15 to 60 minutes, so sit back, relax and enjoy getting into a state that resembles your most peaceful dreams!

Experience harmony and well-being

When you start relaxing and sinking into the sounds around you, your brain waves slow down putting you in an almost dreamlike state. The sounds you hear during a sound bath invite you into a deeper state of consciousness and give you the chance to unplug from external distractions and gain more insight into what’s going on within you.

The aim of the experience is to encourage deep rest, self-discovery and relaxation

Not only does a sound bath create a state of deep harmony within participants, but it also allows for great relaxation and well-being. Some people also claim that sound baths helped soothe their physical pain.

Sound baths can be extremely beneficial to those who have a difficult time connecting with traditional meditation or yoga, but are still yearning to experience similar benefits. This is particularly true if you’re someone who overthinks or has excessive thoughts that make it difficult to meditate in a more traditional way.

What is great about sound baths is that you can do them anytime you experience extreme stress or negative thoughts. You could come in every week or once every couple of months – there are no restrictions whatsoever.

If you are wondering where to find a sound bath practice, they are often organised in yoga and meditation studios. You can also purchase a sound bath recording online and indulge in this immersive experience from the comfort of your home.
