NextThis year, the first May bank holiday is taking a slightly different form, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make it a weekend to remember or use our three precious days in a positive way.
So without further ado, we’re delighted to share M Life’s bank holiday plans.
Out and about (sort of)
The hour-a-day exercise rule is something we’re sticking to religiously. We’re (unsurprisingly and probably quite obviously) yoga devotees and love nothing more than taking our yoga practice to the next level. A quick vinyasa flow is often a life saver and an essential part of a busy routine, but having three, lovely long days to practice for more than 45 minutes is such a treat. At the first chance of sun we like to throw on our yoga wear, take our linen yoga mat out into the garden or the park and treat ourselves to a 90-minute ashtanga session.
Thinking of others
We’re conscious of our privilege, the amazing job done by key workers in these unprecedented times and those who have been affected by the Coronavirus and Coronacrisis. Here at M Life, we’re trying to do our bit by donating to charity, obeying the social distancing and other government rules and raising awareness of those doing the right thing. One such social enterprise is Food4Heroes who are donating meals to frontline NHS workers. They raise money for their food delivery services by asking their Instagram followers to take on one of their challenges to help with fundraising efforts or donate after they’ve completed a task. A seriously worthwhile cause.
Culture fix
Going to the cinema and theatre are truly life’s great pleasures – and a rare opportunity for some silence! We’re exploring various live streams and early film releases by making the most of apps (not to mention the free trials!) and the streaming services options out there. We’re going to bed down, immerse ourselves in the joys of the silver screen and indulge in some serious home made cinema snacks.
Getting back to ‘us’
For some of us, wellbeing has taken a bit of a backseat in recent weeks. This weekend we’re all about eating brunch, pretending we’re at the spa and working on ourselves. We’re ordering some local delicacies (if you’re based in London we really recommend trying one of the small, independent businesses found on https://littleplaces.london/), indulging in a lot of baths, candles, diffusers and stretching, and investing in our mental health with mindfulness, meditation and manifestation. Of course, we’ll be doing all of these things in M Life yoga clothes and loungewear. (Well if we’re being really honest, probably just M Life loungewear. Loungewear is self-care, right?)
Hands-on
Sitting at the same desk on video calls all week is draining and not the best for our bodies, not to mention the impact staring at a screen all day is having on our eyes. It’s important to counteract the sedentary lifestyle that we’ve all had to adjust to. We’re excited to try a bit of gardening, as well as getting stuck into some more kinaesthetic activities, even if we’re terrible at them. Calligraphy, we’re coming for you.
