The Om Yoga Show 2015 – Review

If you’re not familiar with the Om Yoga Show, it’s an event organised by Om Magazine in various cities across the UK, we were invited to the London show held at Alexandra Palace this year to explore the event. If you’ve visited Alexandra Palace you’ll know how seriously beautiful the location is, overlooking North London, you can even see all the way over to the Shard and skyscrapers in East Central. We took our ambassador and model/blogger Rebecca Pearson who is the beauty and brains behind ModelTypeFace, and spent the day walking around trying out as many free samples as we could get our hands on.

The show has a schedule of open classes that you can just wander into and participate which is a lot of fun and we got the chance to try out some different types of classes we wouldn’t normally do. The class above is an example of “yoga bou”, using a bar and derived from Japanese martial arts. There were also lots of different brands and companies that fit in with the yoga lifestyle, we talked to loads of stallholders and discovered some amazing new brands like Yogandha who produce some beautiful essential oils that roll onto the skin and smell amazing.

We sat in on some guided meditation which was a super relaxing haven right in the middle of the bustling stalls and chatter, and also caught up with Abi Mills, another one of our ambassadors. You might recognise Abi from all the Om posters as she was the face of the show this year and was also teaching at the open classes which we unfortunately didn’t get the chance to attend, she was of course, dressed head to toe in Manuka Life and did pose for some lovely photos for us instead though.

There were some fun features and activities scattered throughout the venue, it was very hard to get bored and took us hours to get round to seeing everything. You can get a professional massage, or even a machine that does it for you like Rebecca is doing below; she absolutely loved this massager and refused to get up for about 20 minutes. You can also get your palm read or have a tarot reading as well as so many other things, the list is endless.

This is one of the classes we did, this one was right at the end of the day and it was tough, we were aching all over on Monday. You’re welcome to do as much or as little as possible though and the instructors from all the classes we did were great at keeping an eye on you and correcting your posture.

The Om Show is scattered all through the year in various cities so check out their site to see if there’s one near to you soon. We would definitely recommend going if you’re into the lifestyle aspect of yoga, wellbeing and healthy eating, we had a fantastic time and it’s well worth the money for a day of activities. The London show was only £10 for the day or £22 for all three days.
